UnISCED’s II International Conference
I. Topic: The Challenges of Higher Education in the 21st century
The II UniSCED International Conference aims to bringing together academics and researchers from different parts of the world so that they can share and discuss ideas, different experiences and practices that can be helpful in improving the quality of higher education offered by different institutions in the 21st century. In this context, the main objectives of the Conference are the following:
- Share experiences about inclusive education vs quality in online teaching;
- Discuss the challenges of online higher education;
- Analyze the contribution and challenges imposed by artificial intelligence to higher education;
- Identify strategies of using technology in education as well as strategies of using open educational resources;
- Share experiences about the quality of doctoral academic programs offered in different parts of the world;
II. Panels and thematic axes
Speakers will be grouped into different panels in line with the following thematic axes:
- Inclusion and quality in higher education;
- Challenges and Perspectives of Online Higher Education;
- Artificial Intelligence and higher education;
- The use of technology in education and open educational resources;
- The quality of doctoral training Programs.
III. Keynote Speakers
Leonel Morgado
Full Professor at Universidade Aberta and Researcher at INESC TEC, focusing on immersive learning environments with over 200 scientific publications.
Lino Marques Samuel
Assistant Professor at the Catholic University of Mozambique, specializing in educational innovation and teacher training, with extensive teaching and administrative experience.
Marco Neves
Expert in Digital Education and AI, coordinates educational technology projects, has been training teachers since 2002, and is an ambassador for Europeana and Scientix, certified by Microsoft and Cisco.
Martins José Chelene Mapera
PhD in Cultural Hermeneutics, he is the Rector of UniSoM, a professor and researcher in Cultural and Lusophone Studies, with numerous publications and participation in conferences.
Lourino Alberto Chemane
CEO of INTIC and Professor at UEM, holds a PhD in Computer Science, with 30 years of experience in ICT, including roles as advisor and director in Mozambique.

VI. UnISCED’s Online Journal and the book of proceedings
The book of proceedings will be published in the University journal. A total of seven articles will be selected by its editorial team after a double-blind peer review process. The link to access the journal is the following: https://revista.unisced.edu.mz
VII. Procedures and deadlines
Abstract submission procedures:
- Abstracts must be submitted by May 31, 2024 to the following email: conferencia.internacional@unisced.edu.mz.
